Please join us in an invigorating afternoon of spiritual enjoyment!  We will use our voices to explore chants drawn from the Yogic culture of India and songs from Africa as well as spirituals from the South..  We will be exploring simple drumming patterns to engage our whole bodies in this expression and illuminate the sacred sounds.

Bring a drum if you have one!  All are welcome!
Roberta Kirn

Roberta Kirn

Roberta is a dancer, drummer and singer, as well as a holistic health counselor. Her passion is to help “non” dancers and musicians to find their way to their creative expression in movement, song and rhythm. She believes firmly in the expression from Zimbabwe “If you can walk you can dance. If you can talk you can sing.” It is also her deep belief that singing, drumming and moving with others is not only fun - it is deeply healing. Roberta was a dance major at Dartmouth and Sarah Lawrence colleges before moving to NYC where she danced professionally for 10 years. In college she was in a West African drumming ensemble and has played and sang with the MV Drum Ensemble “Die Kunst Der Drum” for 20 plus years. She has studied singing and song leading with Ysaye Barnwell, Nick Page and Melanie DeMore and was the music teacher at the MV Public Charter School for 10 years.
Kanta Lipsky

Kanta Lipsky

Kanta Lipsky is a yoga teacher, massage therapist, kirtan leader and artist living on Martha's Vineyard.  She was taught chanting by Shri Dhyanyogi Madhusudandas, her beloved Guru of blessed memory more than 30 years ago.  She loves to share these amazing chants with her community on the island.  Just last month, Kanta went to Antioch California to participate in the chanting of 108 Hanuman Chalisas for world peace, led by her teacher, Shri Anandi Ma.  Kanta feels that the voice carries the sacred mantras from the heart into the world, bringing a higher vibration to the planet.
